Here is a solidworks rendering of the instrument panel. In front of the pilot we have the Chelton Flight Systems EFIS monitors. In front of the copilot we have the analog gauges mounted in a removable, modular panel. |
 |
There are several removable modular panels. On the left there is the oxygen system and light panel. Right above the control yoke is the Electronics International digital fuel gauge. To the right of this is the hydraulic panel for the landing gear. In the middle of the panel, above the throttle, prop and mixture verniers, is the Chelton engine monitor. To the far right is the breaker panel. Beneath the pilot's yoke is the engine start switch and dual bus switches. Beneath the copilot's yoke is the engine cooling system controls and the aileron and horizontal trim indicators. The radio stack console is conveniently located between the pilot's and copilot's legs. |

Early ideas for the instrument panel. A piece of plywood was cut to begin ergonomic studies. |
 |
Pilot interaction with the instrument panel was of primary concern in the design. |

Here we are adjusting the angle of what will become the engine start switch and dual bus panel. |

We made a mold of the instrument panel. Here is the part vacuum-bagged in the mold. |
