Ingress to the cabin occurs on the right side of the airframe via a clamshell door.
Rather than place stress on the lower half of the door, a seperate, free-standing airstair was designed. |

After the airstair was designed in solidworks, the pieces were made, then welded together. Here, Tim is TIG welding the airstair while the pieces are firmly attached to a specially-made fixture. |

The finished airstair, complete with aluminum step plates, is installed in the aircraft. Testing revealed the airstair was easily capable of withstanding 300lbs of weight. |
